Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Green Jobs Board collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect only what we need to run a climate hiring platform you can trust.

Who we are
Green Jobs Board (“Green Jobs Board,” “we,” “us”) operates the climate hiring platform at greenjobsboard.us, including the job seeker experience and the employer experience (Canopy). This policy applies to that platform and the emails we send.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. Your name, email address, and a securely hashed password when you create an account. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, and profile photo with us; we never receive your Google password.
- Job seeker profile. Information you add to your profile, such as work experience, skills, interests, location, links, a profile photo, and documents you upload (for example a resume or cover letter).
- Applications. The applications you submit and the answers you provide to employer application questions.
- Employer and company information. Company profile details, logo, job postings, and the content you publish through Canopy.
- Payment information. When you purchase a listing or subscription, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number; Stripe handles card data under its own terms and security standards.
- Communications. Messages you send us and your email notification preferences.
Information we collect automatically
- Usage and device data. Log information such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps, used to keep the service secure and to understand how it’s used.
- Local storage. We use browser storage (including session storage for your sign-in token) to keep you logged in and to remember basic preferences. We keep cookies and tracking to the minimum needed to operate the platform.
Voluntary self-identification
Some employers invite applicants to share voluntary self-identification information (such as demographic details) to support equal-opportunity efforts. Providing this is always optional, it does not affect your application, and it is handled separately from the information used to evaluate candidates. You can decline without any impact on how your application is considered.
How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the platform.
- To connect job seekers with employers — for example, sharing a submitted application with the employer who posted the role.
- To send you transactional email (verification, password resets, and updates about your account or applications) and, where you’ve opted in, notifications and digests you can turn off at any time.
- To process payments and manage billing.
- To protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats.
- To comply with legal obligations.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these circumstances:
- Between job seekers and employers. When you apply to a role, your application is shared with that employer. When an employer posts a role, that content is shown publicly.
- Service providers. We use trusted providers to run the platform, including Google (sign-in), Stripe (payments), Amazon Web Services (hosting, file storage, and email delivery), and our email/newsletter tools. They may process your information only to provide services to us.
- Legal and safety. When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the platform.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
Email and your choices
Transactional emails (such as email verification, password resets, and updates about your own applications) are part of the service. Notification and marketing emails are optional — every such message includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can manage every category from your account settings. Unsubscribe requests take effect immediately.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, then for any additional period required to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data as described below.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly to any incident.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. Residents of California and other states with privacy laws have additional rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. You can exercise these rights from your account settings or by contacting us at privacy@greenjobsboard.us. We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Children’s privacy
Green Jobs Board is intended for users who are at least 16 years old and of legal working age. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
International users
We are based in California, in the United States, and process information there. If you access the platform from outside the United States, you understand your information will be processed in the U.S., which may have different data-protection rules than your country.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
